Thanks to everyone who participated in the 3rd Annual Lawrence Apartments Association Just Food Food Drive. The Food Drive was held from September 29, 2014-October 31, 2014. We collected over 300 pounds of food. Thanks again to all the apartment complexes and management groups that participated. Another successful year.
Lawrence, KS: In this Thanksgiving season, members of the Lawrence Apartments Association are showing their commitment to the Lawrence community in a novel way. In conjunction with Lawrence's Just Food, several complexes are collecting food to donate to needy families.
Marty Moore, President of the Lawrence Apartments Association stated, "We recognized our unique opportunity with so many residents living in close proximity to get the word out about the need in our community. Just Food is a wonderful organization and we have found that employees and residents of the many participating complexes are delighted to contribute."
Several complexes throughout Lawrence are participating. Just Food has provided large bins to the complexes to collect non-perishable food items. Paulette Teague, Property Manager with Hutton Farms, says "Just Food has made this very easy for us. We see our employees and residents contributing every day. It feels very nice to help families in need."
The Apartments Association food drive began November 1 and will continue until November 15 when all the collected food items will be delivered to Just Food.
The Lawrence Apartments Association is the leading apartment-industry association in Lawrence. Organized in 1970, the Lawrence Apartments Association is the largest organization representing apartment owners in Lawrence, and has represented apartment owners in Lawrence for over 4 decades. LAA members are responsible community members, employers, taxpayers, and community volunteers who have a vested interest in maintaining a high quality of life in Lawrence.
Just Food is a community food bank serving Lawrence and Douglas County.
